Meet Me

My name is Lindsay O’Brien and I’ve been lovingly going by “Frog” since I was 8 years old.

At my very first week of a new horse camp, the instructor’s name was “Kat,” and a few of my fellow campers had funny nicknames. There was a “Bug,” a “Monkey,” and a “Fly,” who were all returning campers. I was a very shy kid (I’m still pretty shy, unless you get me talking about horses!) Anyway… apparently, my 8-year-old brain thought it would be a good idea to “ribbit” when my name was called for attendance and “Frog” stuck!

I love having my nickname as nobody ever forgets it! Plus, there is never any confusion about who people are talking about.

Since then, I’ve gotten many opportunities to grow my horsemanship. Riding at the farm where I got my nickname, I was able to show, become part of 4-H, work with green horses, and develop my passion for teaching by working at their many summer camps, where I worked my way up from camper, to CIT, to Barn instructor. I was inspired by Kat, who was the most wonderful instructor; I wanted to inspire kids like she had inspired me!

For 5 years, I was president of my 4-H club and was lucky enough to show at county and state fairs.

All these experiences helped me grow my leadership and passion for teaching and connecting with youth in the community.

I was lucky enough to find a job feeding at a local farm where I stayed for 10 years. I grew such a love and respect for those owners. They stuck with me through my late teen years and gave me a great foundation and stepping stone for my next adventures.

When I was 19, I went out west to Laramie, Wyoming where I worked at a guest ranch and had the absolute best summers for 3 years. That experience was second to none. I met amazing people, my employers were great, the guests were fantastic, and my fellow workers were amazing. I never could have asked for a better experience.

When that adventure had come to a close, I was ready to start my own business. I was lucky enough to come home to my feeding job of 10 years to be offered a management job helping at the farm. I was able to start my business Summer Rose Horsemanship LLC in 2019. Gaining a great foundation utilizing the fantastic facility called Troupe Run Stables, I was able to build my clientele and start a successful lesson business.

In September 2023, I was able to purchase my own farm where I continue to give quality horseback riding lessons for all ages.

I hope to meet you soon!
