Meet Me
My name is Lindsay O’Brien and I’ve been lovingly going by “Frog” since I was 8 years old.
At my very first week of a new horse camp, the instructor’s name was “Kat,” and a few of my fellow campers had funny nicknames. There was a “Bug,” a “Monkey,” and a “Fly,” who were all returning campers. I was a very shy kid (I’m still pretty shy, unless you get me talking about horses!) Anyway… apparently, my 8-year-old brain thought it would be a good idea to “ribbit” when my name was called for attendance and “Frog” stuck!
I love having my nickname as nobody ever forgets it! Plus, there is never any confusion about who people are talking about.
Since then, I’ve gotten many opportunities to grow my horsemanship. Riding at the farm where I got my nickname, I was able to show, become part of 4-H, work with green horses, and develop my passion for teaching by working at their many summer camps, where I worked my way up from camper, to CIT, to Barn instructor. I was inspired by Kat, who was the most wonderful instructor; I wanted to inspire kids like she had inspired me!
